just had my fiesta zetec 1.4 mot'd and serviced after being off road for a year, when left garage ran out of petrol, filled up and was alright now petrol got to quater tank left keep get short stuttering loss of power and struggles to start could this be blocked fuel lines or fuel filter due to running out of petrol if so how much will this cost to fix as just had fork out and short on cash any help or advice will be much appreciated cheers

could be filter blocking up.

due to finances, taking any necessary precautions, you could try disconnecting inlet side of fuel filter and drain into bowl...if a problem with filter, often see the fuel come out a very dirty colour...if it does, then can either change the filter which aren't that expensive, or remove and partially refill with clean fuel, seal off the ends and give a good shake and drain...keep doing till fuel drains as clean as it went in.

What was the service? Full monty or just oil and filters, I would have thought the fuel filter would be considered necessary by a decent mechanic if he knew it had been left for 12 months, I would also check your air filter if it wasn't renewed it may also be breaking down.
