Alarm / Security System?

Featured Replies

Hi I have a 2011 Zetec - S and am concerned as to whether I have an alarm / immobiliser fitted...

After reading different posts on here I'm still none the wiser. I've contacted ford who've told me that it should be fitted with a perimeter system and also a group 12 security (whatever that means). Reading people say that these should set off the alarm if a door / bonnet is opened once the doors are locked doesn't seem true.

I've locked the car with the window undone, opened the door if not on deadlock, have even popped the bonnet and still no siren.

Any idea if mine sounds faulty or do I just simply not have any alarm?! Which is find incredible for a 2011 vehicle!

Hearing how easily theives are getting into the new fiesta is a worry and I need to know what I have before investing in a TOAD cat 1 system.

Thanks in advance

Robbs

Sit in the car, lock it with the remote key fob, wait 10secs then jump around - then you'll know ;)

There's no sensors in there but will give it a try... :/

Sit in the car and then deadlock it using the remote.

Wait around 60 seconds for the alarm to arm and then open the bonnet with the car still deadlocked - alarm should sound if it has one.

My old 09 plate Titanium sounded the horn by doing as above.

Titanium had a perimeter alarm as standard (just means it sounds if any unauthorized access points get opened). Not sure if lower trims had it.

They have immobilisers as standard and it's an intruder alarm I believe? So it's when a window is smashed or a door is forced open from what I understand.

After having my Zetec S stolen I realised that to a pro car thief the ford factory fitted alarms, immobilisers are not very good.

I now have a Metal. Which I have had the OBD/ECU port moved and protected. The modern day thieves use computer software to take cars, especially if you have keyless start which I had on the Zetec S. Also a good idea to get a dislok steering wheel lock.

Anything electronic can be over ridden.

Easiest way to test is to unlock the car manually using a non remote key.

If you have an alarm it should go off until you put the key in the ignition and turn it to II.

Sit in the car, lock it with the remote key fob, wait 10secs then jump around - then you'll know ;)
