Fiesta 1.25 Emissions

Featured Replies

Hi just purchased fiesta 1.25 Edge.

Can anybody explain why specifications on this car show emissions. As 124 k and log book showers 133k

This puts the fiesta in to a different tax band, from a band D to a Band E...thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum

According to these figures, that puts the road tax up from £100 to £120, and the tax you pay is probably taken from the log book,, i dont know how you can change that, but £20 a year more is not that much in relative terms - the latest cars are at a much lower rate

http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/road-tax-rates-2012-2013/261927

Update : - according to this -

http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/advice/road-tax-guide/ford/fiesta/hatchback-2008/53145/

the emmissions are 129 grammes per kilometer, which puts the 2010 Fiesta 1.25 in band D (£100 according to the chart in my other post on this thread)

FOCA?...thanks for your reply, yes £20. is not a lot extra, just extra in the governments pockets. but why is it wrong ??

The dealer is going to tax my car and the post office will use the figure on the log book.

I asked the dealer if anything has been modified, and was told nothing has been changed since new.

133 g/k is printed on the log book.

I looked at the same car in a car park an the tax was showing £105.

Parkers and Autotrader show this car at 129gk. My car was listed in Autotrader so the spec for it was wrong.

Maybe my log book is printed wrong. As my tax is going to be £125. But as you say how is that confirmed to be changed.

Ford head office maybe ??

Thanks

Well, in my opinion it looks like a mistake was made on the logbook, perhaps a typo or the g/km was taken from another model, when it was filled out, so it should read 129g/km not 133, and should be in the lower (£105) bracket, instead of the higher £125 bracket (allegedly)

You could contact citezens advice (its a sort of a consumer type thing and they can be very helpful in these types of situations, and may have suggestions/ may take some of the "legwork" out of you having to phone around plus companies/ government agencies are more likely to take you more seriously if you have contacted them 1st )

VOSA and the DVLA spring to mind,

Could be a lot of hassle for the sake of £20, but its £20 each year, when you go to sell the car, a lower tax bracket can make it more desirable, and there is always the chance  that the cost of tax will go up as well (its been gradually going up for years)

Plus of course its annoying and unfair - the govenment gets more than enough money already from motorists, IOM

Let us know how you get on

Yes, its 60PS/ 127 gramme per kilometer and 82PS / 133g/km

More power = more emmisions

So if you have the 82PS version of the 1.25, you just have to pay the extra £20 :(

The ps is the German version of HP (1 pferdestarke = 0.9863201 horsepower)
or the power output of the engine, a British horespower is slightly more than a German one (115PS = 113Hp) so some manufacturers like to use this

Well we found the answer .more power sounds good .. to my cost.

But looking forward to driving the car which I pick up Friday week.
