Nathan_M
Is the car a 2012 plate or what? It's not an eco boost is it so I would have thought that it's just the same as the zetec 1.25 used in the mk6,7 and previous, try this perhaps: Http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Ford_Fiesta_1.2_2012/p/car-parts/engine-parts/belts-chains-and-tensioners/car-drive-belt/?202777435&1&81e569b0432d474fc419b1eaab4949196dd86116&000108
damocl
no its not a ecoboost one. just a standard 1.25 8v 60ps
Jake90087
Try for a 16v one from a 1.25 Zetec S/Duratec engine. I'm sure they're similar. But don't count me on it.
damocl
Also how do you change it? i see there tensioner at the bottom but i can't see how to slacken it apart from unbolting the tensioner from the engine?
Jake90087
I'd recommend you have a garage do that bit. But there should be guides online if you google for it. But in a fiesta engine bay there isn't a lot of space to change one and it would be worse for a novice on the matter.
Nathan_M
It will be 2 stretchy belts (one for PAS,ALT,WPMP and one for AC) if the engine is derived from or is still a zetec SE, i reckon its a 16v motor as well, the only way to get the belt off if this is the case would be to cut it off, the belt kit will come with a goofy plastic clip on tool that helps align and fit the belt, besides this point if the car is only 12 months old i would be straight to the dealer, it should come under some part of the warranty to be honest. damocl
Well I thought it was a 8v? Maybe it is a 16v im not to sure. It's a 2012 fiesta studio 1 25 so thought it was a 8v as it was the 60ps one. It only has 1 belt as I have no air con. There's only 4 cogs it goes round. One the water pump. Alternator. The cog it goes round on the outside plus from the looks of it the tensionor Seems like a automatic tensioner I could be wrong. Also be good to know if the bely someone posted a few posts up is the right one.
Nathan_M
The 4 pulleys that the belt go over and on are detailed below, the water pump is driven by the back of the belt, the alternator is at the top power steering pump at the bottom and crank pulley at the back to supply rotational force for the lot, it will be 16v I would bet my house on it. To be sure go on to www.etis.ford.com and input your registration number, it will tell you everything about your car and will probably put (sigma) after the engine I the upper box do that and report back. MartynS
Assuming the 2012 is the same as the 2010 I have, the pulley marked as power steering in your diagram will actually just be an idler (in place of the air con) as the power steering is electric. Nathan_M
Not a sigma engine then, I believe as the AC is on its own belt behind the crank pulley on those, mine is. I would bet that it's a stretch belt either way as it's cheaper during manufacture.
damocl
Yep its come up as a 1.25 duratec 16v signa. As the belt has no tensioner then how do u remove and put on a new one?
Nathan_M
I would have thought that it has the same layout as my doodle then, the best way to go about fixing this is to go to a local motor factor and buy one there they will use your registration number to ensure the correct belt kit, just be sure to buy a kit rather than just the belt so you get the application tools, savings online would be minimal anyway, I would recommend any major brand such as Continental, gates or Dayco, removal is easy you just cut the belt with a knife, and here are fitting instructions supplied by Continental, although after a searching Google it appears that some sigma's left the gates with tensioners and some with stretchy belts, best bet is either a Ford parts shop or motor factor either way it shouldn't be too difficult and a garage would only charge 50 quid for parts and fitting anyway. damocl
Ok belive ive found the belt i need. I can't find anywhere online where a actual fitting tool is? does one even exist? if not and its just a tight belt how do you fit it? Im doing this with my brother who knows more about cars then me, but want to know we are doing it the correcy way before we try.
Nathan_M
If you buy a belt kit rather than Just a belt it will come with the "fitting" tools as they call them.

Well i rang ford today and they want £50 just for the belt >.<. i can get it from eurocarparts for £11 made by Dayco. plus ive found this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Ford-Fanbelt-Stretch-Belt-Installation-Tool-/360655809786#vi-content
Nathan_M
I can't believe 50 quid unless that includes fitting, I just looked at the Dayco belt it 'should' come with something to help with fitting. Famous words, "he says"
