Engine Advice Needed. 11 Plate 1.25/82Bhp To 1.0T 100 Or 125Bhp

Featured Replies

Afternoon all. I'm after some good honest opinions please.

I've got a 2011 Fiesta Zetec with the 1.2 82bhp engine. It's a nice car but I'm getting itchy feet toward the new model Titanium. More toys, yummy!

However, the Ecoboost engines are doing my head in as I can't decide which would be the better choice. The 1.0T/100bhp or 1.0T 125bhp?

I'm especially interested to hear from anyone who's gone from the 1.2/82bhp engine to either of the above.

A lot of folks seem to think the 100bhp is a sweet spot in the engine range but as a useful everyday engine I want to hear what other folks think of it. Is it worth going for the 125bhp or has the 100bhp got enough guts for most uses. How much of a step is the 100bhp and 125bhp units over my 82bhp motor? Any like for like comparison for folks who have run either for a little while would be great.

Also, how are you guys finding economy etc. I'm a late 30's old !Removed! who does mainly city driving but it does need to hold it's own on motorways and I am partial to opening the taps now and then like most car enthusiasts.

Thanks in advance for your feedback all. Much appreciated.

Hi, you'll find that the 100ps engine will suffice for your needs as the torque output is similar between the two PS outputs, and it is torque that's more important than PS. It also comes in quite low down thus the car can be driven fairly lazily, however it still can be hustled along quite rapidly . Drive one and see what you think...

I just had a courtesy car for 2 days while my Metal was being looked at. It's much more fun than my Metal :(

100bhp version...
