Ac Clutch Wont Engage

Featured Replies

hi guys and galls, i need a few pointers on my ac,

when i switch it on the clutch does not kick in, could this be that the gas is low?

i have checked the fuse and the wiring connecting the compressor and all seems fine.

i must admit that in owning the car in three years i have never used it and it could now be a little stuck but with this hot weather ( is this a dream? ) i could do with more than the windows down.

if anybody has any ideas as what to try and what relays to check i would be ever so greatfull, and so would the wife.

and please if i do not get back to any of your replys its not my ignorance its my jolly hols in the sun stopping me.

thanks all, billybob66 :D

If it's been three years since you ran your aircon then I'd say for definite you need a re-gas.

Three years is about as long as the system should go before a re-gas anyway as the refrigerant will break down over time.

If the gas pressure is low the compressor clutch won't engage to protect the system.

It is recommended that the system is run every week to keep the seals and pump lubricated.

It's ok, I'm in 35 degree daytime temperatures and would kill for my cars aircon right now.
