Festoon Bulb

Featured Replies

What size festoon do I need for my courtesy light in my mk 2 focus (05) sorry if it has been discussed! I bought one it seems to small an also blew my fuses. Any help would be appreciated

What is IIRC? Thanks :)

It's a common forum-speak acronym just...stands for If I Remember Correctly IIRC ... get it?!

42mm festoon indeed if you have the single bulb interior light. 36/38mm I think if you have one with maplights either side of the festoon. What you could do is bend the two metal parts which hold the bulb in place inwards...only need a couple of mm each so might work ok (insert 'no blame' disclaimer here!).

Not a bad idea to remove the interior light fuse, or at least make sure the lights are set to the 'Off' position and not the 'on' or 'door open' position when swapping out bulbs. Only a few pence for a couple of new fuses. You might even have a few spares in the fusebox already.

I bought 240 mixed fuses off ebay the other day for just over a fiver, when I was playing about with all my lighting, I wasnt in a hurry to disconnect fuse, or switch the lights off (I thought it would be so much easier to see I got the polarity the right way round by leaving it to light up when I put t the right way round

Long story short, they are cheap if you buy them in bulk and they never come in wrong!

Its not buying the fuses - its fitting them. I have already blown one and cost £13 to get it sorted. So what I might do is just take it somewhere to get them to fit it. On my Punto I changed the interior light and no problems... But not the focus :(

shame your not close by, I would have done it, it really is very simple!

Whats the difficulty? are you using the fuse puller?

I switched the light off - pulled it down - took the bulb out - GONE lol

All you do mate is drop your fuse box. Find the culprit. Pull it out, find a fuse with same number ie 5 or 7.5 etc and push it in. Can go in anyway so you cant get that wrong.

In the past ive used fuse pullers, screwdrivers, pliers and the list goes on to pull them out haha

£13 to get it sorted?!? You just got ripped of matey.

a pair of pliers works, or if you want the fuse puller, its hiding in the auxhillary fuse box under the bonnet. mine is a 10amp fuse for the interal lighting, as I think its also radio
