antman99
Hi All, Has anyone else experienced "stepping" on their tyres, this is when the edge sort of jumps a small amount between sections so looks like -=-=-=-=- and if you rub your hand over it it feels like step up, step down. The reason I ask is because I have this problem and as is usual with Ford Motor Company they are blaming it on everything except the manufacturing of the car. I have paid the dealer for 4 wheel alignment, the front was only out by a tiny (0.1mm) but the back left camber is 1.2 degrees, however apparently this can not be adjusted, so my question which they cannot seem to answer is if it is not adjustable how have I ended up with a 1.2 degree camber on 1 wheel when the other is 0. Has anyone got any idea or experience with this, I do not want to go and buy new tyres only to find the same stepping happens to them. Thanks. craiglr
have you gone through any potholes or hit the wheel on a curb sounds like a suspension component is bent.
antman99
Hi çraig Nothing that has stood out Ford have checked the suspension 5 times, apparently the dealer have adjusted my front axle so the back follows in line, not sure if that will work to be honest, annoyed that the warranty is worthless. craiglr
the thing is if all the wheels aren't pointing the way they should your gonna be getting through tyres pretty fast. has this been checked out at the same garage every-time?, if so id take it to another garage and see what they think. craiglr
if they have done that then i don't understand, as changing anything on the front will not change the camber angle on your back wheel, the camber is the angle at which the wheel sits usually the top of the tyre leans into the wheel arch a little. and as there is no way of changing the camber angle by adjustment then something has to be bent. antman99
Hi craig, That was my thought exactly but Ford are fully denying any damage to the suspension or similar, I really am stuck with this one! Think my only option is to trust them, buy mew tyres and nope the same does not happen again.
LittleBIGfiesta
Take it to an independant garage, or ford specialist. Get a few different opinions, i would not trust ANY dealer as far as i could throw them. At that point you will have three or more different/same opinions, if none match what your dealer are saying then escalate the issue to Ford UK.
