1.8 Tdci Issue

Featured Replies

hi, well, 2 issues really but main one is the big elbow hose that comes off the intercooler turbo i think!, has split and this is the second time this has happened , would there be a cause for this happening ? and is it meant to have oil in it? other issue is when i bought the car it hasnt come with a locking nut key so i cant get wheels off, any advice please would be grateful

split pipes are common, but they should last a while

oil in pipes is common too, so long as it isnt excessive as that would soften the hoses quicker...plus exhaust would tend to blow blue smoke.

there are special sockets to remove any lock nuts...readily available...but depending on design, can sometimes get away with hammering a standered socket that will fit tight enough to grip over the locknut..so long as the nut wasnt overtightened with an air gun or similar, will normally get them undone

thanks for your help, got to admit the 2nd hose i fitted was a universal elbow from wilcos cos it was weekend, would a ford original hose be better ?

no idea of quality of hose fitted, but yes, original would probably be better.

some sellers on ebay sell silicone hoses which are less likely to split
