Looking for some comments and advice here please, I'm going to look at 2 fiesta's this coming weekend, 1 is an 11 plate 1.4 titanium auto at £9k and the other a 13 plate 1.6 titanium auto at £13.5k.

I know the RFL is cheaper on the 1.6 but how do the running costs compare, is the 13 plate a great improvement over the 11 plate, is the 1.4 underpowered etc.

Thanks in advance :)

My friend, moved from the 1.4 diesel (10 plate) to a 1.6 tdi zetec s (13 plate) and he loves it, says its a much better drive and feels like there is more power.

Thanks Ollie, I should've said both engines are petrol.

Oh petrol haha sorry matey

Erm didn't think they did they 1.6 anymore in petrol thought they changed it to a 1L Eco boost but if its the 1.6 I had on my old 12 plate it's much better than the 1.4 IMO

Hi

I have a 1.4 Titanium petrol auto and on really short journeys and a (very) light right foot. max I can get in the summer is about 38mpg. In winter it drops to more like 32/33mpg. Not particularly good but the combination of very short journeys and low ambient temperature takes its toll. Performance wise it is decidedly leisurely on acceleration, described as "adequate" in some road tests. I don't mind but some people would find it hard to live with the performance. Otherwise, the auto very smooth and nice to drive.

I have no experience of the 1.6 petrol.

Hi Go for the 1.6 if it is the new shape 09 plate will be out of warranty.(2 years +on the 13 plate) With more power you will not have to drive as hard more MPG plus with less road tax the newer car will be better on fuel.

PS TCH in Derby have a black 16 auto tatanium 18/03/2013 13 reg 2009 miles £13000.

If it's derby TCH and you go for a new one ask for Anthony Top salesman :)

Thanks Again Ollie and thanks Alan and Dave.

Great feedback, just what I was after, out of warranty doesn't bother me, I don't know what Ford are like but with other Marques with the exception of Subaru, I've found that the warranty isn't really worth the paper it's written on as the dealers and the UK HQ usually try every trick in the book to avoid sorting things out.

As for black, no thanks but thanks for the heads up.

I'm leaning toward the newer one but it won't leave me much, if any, change from the p/x whereas with the 11 plate I should have around around £4k and, as I'm recently redundant that'd come in very handy.
