The Dark Knight
A couple of weeks ago I polished the car but some of it got onto the black plastic near the windows and wing mirrors. Also got some on the black strips along the roof. This has left white marks which won't come off with normal household multi surface polish and it won't wash off either. Any thoughts on what's best for this? I was thinking a back to black type of product but thought I would see what you guys recommended. DanGersFord
Methelated spirits and a cloth or peanut but both work quite well. The methelated spirits wont damage your paintwork or leave your car smelling nutty Lol but it does take a bit of elbow grease to clean it off properly
The Dark Knight
Cheers. I also did some digging on amazon and this seems well rated: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Autoglym-BC325-325ml-Bumper-Care/dp/B000MSU28U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375028365&sr=8-1&keywords=autoglym+bumper+care

ayrshiredude
there is numerous products avaliable that promise to restore the black trim such as back to black but to be honest I have never found any that actually last.
DanGersFord
The methelated spirits actually removed the wax residue not just cover it up which is why I always recommend it like I said it takes abit of elbow grease but it gets rid of wax residue altogether mine looked terrible when I got it but It came up great

Marcr1
All these products just cover them until they wash off. If its polish then just use a pencil rubber. It works amazingly well. You won't believe your eyes
Mr Singh
hair drier and some back to black should do the trick. i dont know how it works but it does work as i did the same to my old car and the valeter told me that trick

Haha good plan :) it's honestly the best tip I've been shown myself. You can forget all these £££ "wonder" products. I turn to my trusty £1 asda rubbers every time :p. jimrex
+1 for pencil rubber! Will remove the polish, then peanut butter will restore the black. Nothing seems to last on black plastic though unfortunately

Torque
Pencil eraser will clear any polish or wax marks from smooth black plastic, for textured you need smooth peanut butter. If for a strange reason neither of those work your best bet is to apply some more of the product thats caused the marking and buff it off immediately. To darken, protect and feed there's a few good products about but the best I have found is Chemical Guys Natural look dressing although there's a new Sonax product out which I haven't tried yet but it's getting rave reviews on detailing sites.
