Guest
Alright everyone, I am looking to service the car and do the Cambelt.......I wont be doing the cambelt as that is well out of my knowledge, I am looking to replace the whole kit and the water pump. I've been looking at the below: - Timing belt kit:- http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Ford_Fiesta_1.4_2002/p/car-parts/engine-parts/belts-chains-and-tensioners/timing-belt-kit/?348772245&1&e47867f9bbdcece7a6130f0d36e12d51c035d2d7&000332 Water Pump: - http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Ford_Fiesta_1.4_2002/p/car-parts/car-cooling-parts-and-car-heating/cooling/water-pump-gasket/?201545381&1&caaf852e35b91cf5a5f4c5d9be15225f85e5360b&000366 Would I need anything else? With regards to the service, I have been advised against changing the fuel filter, due to the lines getting brittle, and usually resulting in them breaking and having to replace them. does any one have any experience with this? or is there anything else I should look out for? cheers all
Gombal
You also need a timing tool set, something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160768716278?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649. Planning to do it myself this year too, not for the miles but the ten year time. As to the fuel filter, i recently changed it, it's connected with quick couplings and i had no problems with things breaking. Must say i didn't bend or stressed the lines to much, it's all plastic. Also the quick couplings are plastic but none of them were or felt brittle. (Did have some electrical plugs which almost crumbled in my hands (not while changing the fuel filter by the way), Ford should have used a bit better quality plastic, mine's from 2004 but the plastic on my 27 year old Mercedes is in better shape and quality as the almost 9 year old Ford plastic. But if you handle it gently most of it will stay in one piece ;) )
Guest
Cheers mate, I wont be fitting the timing belt, but I will be buying it. I know you need or should change the timing belt and the water pump together but I didn't know if there was anything else.
Gombal
Ordered mine here: http://www.fuerst-autoteile.de/, complete Bosch kit, (timing belt, 2 guide rolls and a waterpump) for 151,00 euro. Amazing how much difference there is between webshops in pricing. Also ordered 2 rearwheel bearings there, almost half price of what they wanted at for example http://www.mister-auto.co.uk, both SKF, same number. http://www.mister-auto.co.uk (well actually the dutch version of course ;) ) is also where i order a lot of stuff, a lot of stuff is also really cheap there, not everything though. Do these deliver to the UK?
Gombal
Don't know, if i look at the delivery rates Ireland is in the list but i can't see the UK. But you can always drop them a line to see if they do. Whenever i emailed them i always did it in english, can speak and write german but not as good as english ;) . They always answer back, till now only good experiences with them. Also with Mister auto by the way. From both sites delivery takes about a week, sometimes a bit more, depending on which day you order (weekends in between). and if they have it in store. But till now it didn't bother me because i haven't needed anything immediatly.
Guest
I usually use Euro Car parts, who have been brilliant......looked at some reviews and mister auto seem to be horrendous?
Gombal
Could be, but you usually only see the bad things of internet stores on the net. When something goes as planned no one bothers cause that's what you expect. Can only speak for myself, haven't got any problems (yet) with mister auto so is still ok for me.
