Leaking Fluid

Featured Replies

My daughter has a 2011 fiesta that she drove over a curb with and now she has a fluid leak under the car.

It appears to be running down the heat shield so I am not sure where it is coming from.it isn't oil or antifreeze or brake fluid or tnanny fluid but it looks and tastes and, smells and feels like water.which doesn't make any sense as there are no systems on the car that only have water in them,is there ??

Anya ideas?

Thanks

Fred

You posted this in the guides section, I have moved it for you ;)

what do you mean by heatshield?

where is water appearing in relation to engine/wheels etc

if car has air con, it could just be the condensation run off, which is perfectly normal..if your not sure, just run the car with air con off and see if water leak reappears

The water is dripping at about the mid section of the car. I don"t know where it is comming from as it appears to be running down the silver aluminum shield that looks like it shields the muffler and exhaust from the engine to the muffler. I don"t think it is air conditioner condensation as the day was cool and the a/c was not in use. And the amount of fluid is more that you would get from the a/c.

Thanks

Fred

Is it constantly leaking out, or only when the engine is running? And how much fluid are we talking here? When you say drove over a curb, was it just the wheel that caught it or was it high enough that something under the car have been scraped too? Could it be washer fluid?

Have you checked all your fluid levels? If your loosing much you would notice it in one of the tanks. Check the level on your break fluid as well.**

Did you find the source of the leak?? My partners 13 plate eco boost fiesta has the exact same symptoms, it appears to be water that’s running from the heat shield that’s above the exhaust and dripping quite heavily at the mid section of the car. It’s not oil, fuel, coolant. It looks, feels and even tastes like water
