Battery Light On

Featured Replies

hi, my battery light was on when I started it up this morning and it makes this wurring noise when I accelerate, any ideas?

Sounds like you need a new alternator.

When the engine is running try tapping the alternator with a hammer, if the light goes off then you have worn carbon brushes.

Unfortunately you won't find somewhere to replace the brushes alone, only option is to get the alternator replaced.

any ideas how much roughly that would be ?

It would depend entirely on which garage you go to tbh.

ok thanks

I had my local dealer replace the alternator on my 55 Focus Zetec Climate about 4 year ago, that was a total bill of just over £600
