My Front Discs 'hiss'

Featured Replies

I've had my 1 litre Zetec Fiesta for nearly 4000 miles now and still the front discs 'hiss' when I apply the brakes. I know it's just the discs as using only the rear drums the car comes to a silent stop, The garage said (at 500 miles) that the brakes would 'bed down', but this noise can be actually slightly embarrassing in a quiet car, it's that obvious. Anyone else had this, and is there a cure?

Vauxhall had the same issue with noisy front brakes on the Corsa d (more or less same as the fiesta and punto underneath) and it was down to the brake pad compound. In the end we had to use a fiat spec pad to stop the noise.

Thanks for the info Chris - it'll arm me when I go back with it as a warranty claim.
