Steering Wheel Vibration On 1.6Tdci Econectic

Featured Replies

Hi,

On our 2011 1.6 diesel econetic you can feel quite a lot of vibration through the steering wheel at low-ish revs (around 1200rpm). It's definitely related to engine speed and not road speed, so it's not a wheel out of balance.

It's not so bad that you can see the wheel vibrating or anything, but if you drive in this rev range for a while your hands start to feel like you've been using a hammer drill! These revs can't be low enough to be really labouring the engine, because if you change gear according to the 'change-up' indicator you spend a lot of time down there!

Just wondering if this is common with this engine or if it's a problem with our car?

By the way we've already had the knocking steering column problem fixed (re-greased), and that didn't seem to make any difference.

Thanks!
