Any one replaced A gear knob on a mk2.5 ?

Are they twist off as I am after replacing with an led one which will run off the cigarette lighter.

    Yes they unscrew counter-clockwise, unclip the gaitor surround first and pull up over the knob to avoid scratching anything.

    The knob can be a pig to get off the gaitor, if you've sourced one with the gaitor already attached then it's so much easier.

    The gaitor is stapled to a black trim that clips into the silver surround, be aware that it's quite easy to snap the black bit.

    Cheers for the replies no gaiter with it though just the knob.hopefully have it by weekend and give it a bash.

    Removed the knob and gaiter without breaking it so just need the new one to fit and wire up.
