New Zetec S And Not Happy With Mpg Anu Ideas?

Featured Replies

Hi well as the title states I took delivery of my new zetec s on monday, it had no petrol in it so I put 30 pounds of v power in it and for some reason I am only getting 29 mpg although i filled all thoes economical driver things on the screen. According to my trip computer I habe done 130 miles and now it is time to fill up. I know the engine has got to be run in but it seems a little low to me. How does that compare to your fiesta? I travel quite a few miles a day mainly on duals and 40mph speed limits.

Fill the tank, reset the mpg and drive until the tank needs filling again.

Note the mileage and amount of fuel put in then you can truly work out the mpg - don't believe everything the computer says!

Hi, we're getting around 36-38mpg around town, however I am sure I can get more. What rpm are you changing gear at and what throttle openings?

I've just reached 1000 miles on the clock and I'm averaging 48mpg on this tank. Thats with a bit of town driving / a couple of medium trips but I've not been driving fast. Worked out I should get around 430 miles to this full tank, any idea if that is good?

Hi, averaged 55mpg on a trip back from Suffolk, I was driving between 60-80mph so I am very impressed with that...

it will improve as the engine loosens up, I wasn't impressed with my MPG when I first had my fiesta, it was still better than you are claiming, but as was said fill her up rest the trip and start again.

cheers ian
