I cannot stand this. Not because I regularly speed or excessively speed but for me its one step too far taking control of a car out of your hands, plus theres the expense of having to fit existing cars with the technology which will undoubtably put a lot of older cars that are unable to support the technology off the road, plus if for example you're overtaking and you're suddenly caught short by an oncoming vehicle you may need to speed to safely get in front of the car you're overtaking before there's a head on collision. I think it could cause as many accidents as its proposed to prevent

This is why we should ditch the EU the amount of things were having to adopt is becoming rediculous and the worst of it is they dont even follow most of their rules themselves

Haha thats crazy , there would soon be ways to bypass it if it ever got introduced.

I think it would increase road deaths not save them.

So our masters in the European Community want to impose technology that'll automatically restrict all cars to the speed limit by 2020. At least we now know what they're going to use 'Galileo' for. Our government are trying to resist its introduction, but that's proberly because they envisaged utilising Galileo to gather even more speeding fines, not use it to stop speeding & lose millions in punitive income.

Can you imagine it? You pull out to overtake someone and its one of these idiots who dont like being overtaken so they speed up so they're level with you and then suddenly a car appears in front of you and you cant put the foot down to overtake in time. They havent thought things like this through. They're trying to take the pleasure out of driving full stop

All cars are electronically limited to some extent except for government vehicles,

That's to ensure they can always have the upper hand.

In a case like that, a voice will come over the radio to say

"

Schumacher is faster than you,

Stay behind,

Do you understand lol

Yeah seen this earlier and posted a topic about it in the general discussions section. We should pull out of the EU

Pmsl! They going to force us to fit in car radios aswel? Lol

Didn't see your topic, sorry to repeat it.

But although I'm all for accident reduction, it winds me up how it's a one trick pony that only concentrates on speeding.

Where a friend of mine works they have introduced telematics on all their vehicles.

If he drives even 1 mph over the speed limit or takes a corner a bit 'briskly' the system alerts his boss and he gets a rifting as soon as he gets back to the office.

Definitely no fun there.

If they do this there will be a flourishing market in devices that will beat the system

Its dangerous. Full Stop!

I just cant imagine it coming in, I would be the first to look for a way, if you kill the camera, then you cant have an enforced speed limit. Its stupid to say the least. What about scenario's where your life is in danger? lets say you have a bloke with a gun in the car chasing you on a public road, natural instinct would speed up, then all of a sudden your car slams on the anchors, so that he gets a clear shot.

Its not exactly farfetched given the availability of any weapon in this day in age.

Pathetic!
