Its not out til 17th September (a week away yet). Read an article today which said that the production cost of GTA5 was pushing $300 million - more than most Hollywood movies.

It will be my next purchase, but I'm too busy with work at present to play games as I'll get distracted for hours on end. The most I get these days is an hour or so on F1 2012.

(and no matter how good GTA5 will be, there's no way I'd sit outside a shop all night just to get my hands on it).

Pre ordered on 360. It is my most favourite game franchise but I have never been one to queue for a midnight launch.

Can't wait although will still have to fit it in around work. :)

Im on playstation. Im kinda grudging buying games for it just now knowing the PS4 is out in the next couple of months

Is it likely to be released on the new platforms? surely it will come eventually

Pretty sure it won't be. Even PC is likely to be a way off. Rock star really concentrated on content with GTA V so didn't want to get tied up with next gen. They are using the same engine as in Max Payne so they are pushing consoles to the limits and allowed them to focus all their efforts on the game.

Oh and I do remember one slight die hard fan moment for a GTA game. Not a midnight launch but I went on Argos at midnight for launch of San Andreas to reserve a copy and was outside waiting for my local store to open at 7am, lol.

Not done anything like that since though, happy for them to arrive in the post now, although no doubt I will be like a child on Christmas day when my ps4 arrives. :D

In my experience if you preorder I tend to get the game the day before the release date :)

Yeah I have noticed that with some sites. Although sucks with some PC games, especially ones that need steam as it won't activate until release day.

i was hoping it would be out on PC as they can run and be just as good as any other console games these days, however if not then ill be getting it for the PS3, definitely not worth missing the videos look immense so far

I hear that those who preordered it online will not be getting it early! Apparently Rockstar do not want any retailer to dispatch copies until today.

My Amazon order was dispatched on Saturday.

Pretty sure it won't arrive until tomorrow though, I think they have put it on a named day delivery with RM.

It has been shipped as 1st Class Tracked, but is not actually tracking yet.

that said the other day mooching on tesco site they had a promo of £5.00 off pre orders so i just thought ah go on then so i pre ordered. been dispatched this morning so should be here tomorrow

i really aint into all the hype though n i was deeply disappointed in gta4, it was almost unplayable so i havent actually got big hopes for gta5 even with all the hype around it after there was similar hype around gta4

gta5 is only the second game i've ever actually even pre ordered, the first being saints row 4

i must say after buying saints row 3 on a whim a couple months back after never playing saints row 1 or 2 due to always playing the gta series, i must say saints row is a lot more fun than gta's to date.

i thought saints row 3 was mental enough what with the jet bikes n a single mission where you have super powers n having a gun that makes sharks break through the ground devouring the enemy.

then saints row 4 come along n its truly insane with having super powers throughout the game where you can shoot fireballs out the palm of your hand or even ignite yourself so that everyone within your proximity burns to death. or there being no need for cars when you can run faster than any car, even run up the side of skycrapers before leaping off at the top and gliding around the city. instead of the shark gun in sr3 you can now shoot black holes that suck everything into it, or ray guns that inflate peoples head making em explode or even the dub step gun

this is why saints row 4 is the first game i've ever bothered pre ordering, ironically tesco messed up with dispatching it so i didnt actually receive it till a day after it was released in store but i wasnt that fussed

so with how mental sr4 is, gta5 has a lot to live up to

i know this is a gta thread but has anyone else bothered with saints row?

cause i honestly never ever really looked at it as i've only ever played gta and as the first saints row was n is xbox only i never bothered to get saints row 2 n stuck to gta.

i bought the gta vice/liberty city stories on ps2 but they was pretty much unplayable, bought gta 4 which was unplayable but persevered n completed the story but could not be bothered with the side missions. attempted gta 4 episodes but gave up after a couple missions.

this is why i bought sr3 to give it a go n it beat previous gta's hands down

Sr3 and sr4 are totally different games to GTA.

Its like apples and oranges, which is why sr has a place in the market. Sr4 is nothing like sr1 and 2, its more like crackdown than GTA.

I love both GTA and sr, but for very different reasons.

when sr1 n 2 first come out i thought they was just gonna be a gta rip off trying to get some of gta's fans n just thought it would be similar to gta what with being about gangs n jacking cars n the usual gta thing

but after playing sr3 i think its like gta on roids, like gta without limits n properly gone mad

and whats crackdown? never heard of it
