Focus 1.8 Tdci Help Please.

Featured Replies

Hi all, not long picked up a Mk2 Focus 1.8 TDCi Estate (115 psi) 2005 with the lynx engine.

Im looking for a bit of help please.

1. I have blocked of the egr via the turbo side, is this correct ? since reading most people seemed to have blocked of the other side next to the intercooler.

2. The car does not seem to get very hot, the dial on my dash mainly stays near 60oC ? at times it will go back up then drop down again. If i put the heaters on i get warm air, which takes a while to get to that temp. Could this be due to blocking the egr on the turbo side ?

3. When i reach approx 2200 RPM i hear a rattle sound for a short second, is this a problem with the turbo, or becuase the egr is blanked off.

4. The oil level is higher than maximum, should i drain this ?

Thanks for the help.

Also forgot to mention that i have a small amount of oil the in the inlet pipe to the egr, the big one of the left with the green sensor.

1) Doesn't matter, either way you're stopping the soot contaminating you're inlet.

2) Sounds like you need a new thermostat, replace it and the temp will be ok and the engine will run better because it will reach working temp.

3) Don't know, don't think it will have anything to do with blanking the EGR.

4) Depends, is it just 1 mm above max or is it a quarter nodge higher? 1 mm i wouldn't care about, a quarter nodge above, definitely get some oil out!

Don't know where the big one left of the green sensor is but your crankcase breathes into you're inlet via the PCV. This way there will Always be a little oil in the inlet.

1. Mine is blanked off before the cooler at bk on right hand side, and on the top left hand side also lol...

2. Depends when the thermo opens... if it drops bk down that could be fan kicking in..... mine NEVER goes upto half or beyond lol.....

3. Never had a rattle on mine, I no u say rattle, explain....

4. Depends on how much oil.... mine is above but just a smudge.. I don't worry....

Thanks for the reply I don't know what else to say about the rattle it's like blades or something. Doesn't last for long. Not sure this will help.
