Engine Management Light Never Comes On

I have noticed the engine management light on my 2003 Focus never comes on when I turn the ignition on or ever. Is there anything that would cause this? Maybe something needs resetting?

I did a bit of research and held the trip reset button while turning the ignition on. The code that pops up is 969E. With the 6 being backwards as show in the picture below. I can't seem to find anything on this though. Any ideas?

    it should definately come on for at least a few seconds when you turn the key. the previous owner has removed the bulb to hide an issue with the car

    Yes that is possible. It's just flown through an MOT and drives great so I presume it is nothing serious. I may unscrew the dash and take a peek behind to investigate the bulb though.

    Oh by any chance does anyone know what bulbs they are so I can order replacement?

    under the new rules for mots it should have failed for a non activated emergency light but none the less it looks like you may have a faulty cluster the 6 shouldnt be backwards
