Normal Dealership Transportation Method

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have a new Fiesta due to a dealership in the UK on the 12th October, and then it gets PDI'd and i'm guessing has some other bits done to it before it gets sent to the dealership which i'm picking it up from.

My question is... How does it get from one dealership to the other? I've been given an expected pick up date of the 15th, so i'm starting to wonder if the car is actually driven to my dealership?

If this is the case then i'm not having that! I want to be the first person to drive it!!

Is it usually stuck on a transporter, or actually driven?

Most of the time its either transporter driven (as part of a batch) trailered (in special requests) but normally its not driven unless you specifically ask for it.

I bought my old Focus from birmingham, travelled up there one day was ready to exchange, only to find that they had my details wrong and the finance was refused. They sorted it but couldnt release the car. They had given me the option to drive back and get it (stuff that for a laugh!) they could transport it 'next month' to my local dealer - nope! they could rent a trailer and charge me for the privelage (haha) or they could drive my new one to me, and then drive my old car back - needless to say I think you can guess which one I chose.

The bonus was, that if they drove it to me and there was a problem, it would have been their responsibility to fix, as opposed to me getting into the car, driving off, and they are nowhere to be seen :p

for a brand new car though, or at least a pre reg, its driven from factory to parkup, then parkup to truck, then truck to dealer, then you sit in the seat.
