Yes 250ml a tank.

Not sure about carbon difference in dpf of cat, but this does run cleaner in your cylinders and i notice that i now dont ever really get any soot or smokey clouds under hard acceleration anymore.

well, after some more research some folk have used Halfords 2 stroke garden mineral oil, after popping in 250ml to a full tank there was a noticeable change in engine noise after a good solid drive, the mpg without really trying jumped by 2mpg, im not completely sure but I think it has slightly less poke though, might drop the amount a bit next time

250 is the normal ratio for this, as long as your using a low ash mineral oil. Give it a few tanks and a few Italian tune ups across the carriageway etc and you should be good ( you should normally do this anyway with any diesel). The 2 stroke over a few tanks should essentially be cleaning up your system/ combustion chambers, so you should see a difference.

So what's the best value for money, right oil to add to your fuel tank as I see a lot of different names bantered around....

its the green mineral oil which is the one you need, not the synthetic ones which are red

i actually put in 350-400ml and i notice a real difference, the car feels so quiet when cold that i feel like the pump failed :D

The Halfords one says its mineral low ash but its a pink red colour, similar to coolant. The other ones stated full or party synth....

Just a thought, but won't red 2-stroke turn diesel red...Ok, so I know it won't look like red diesel, but if you're unlucky enough to get a tank-dip, the customs lot will think you've filled up sometime in the past with good old cherry.

Nah they don't do colour test they do a content test. Besides just keep the oil in the boot and it casts doubt they won't do anything. Then again I have never seen any Road side fuel tests....

took her out for a bit of punishment today to see how its getting on with the 250ml of oil in the tank.

Idle noise is all but gone, low RPM sounds about half as noisy then it used to, full on kicking the !Removed! out of it from 3k to 4.2k RPM sounded and felt great, no loss of power but feels smoother. Ill need to do some mpg driving to see the real difference but punishing it was about 3mpg better then before.

that might be to do with the maf sensor though, I cleaned it up today, that smoothed out idle rpm and gave about half a pound more PSI

anyhow, all that aside I can now hear the fuel sloshing about which is a new one on me! :)

should this be an every tank treatment or once every x fill ups?

To get the full benefit of smoothness & quietness at least, it has to be every tank

think im going to play a bit with the ratio, see where the benefit kicks in, by dropping it a bit each tank

average MPG has gone up from 51 to 57.4 and still climbing,
