Being Kept In The Dark?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys...

Looking for a bit of an explanation to this one, because i'm completely stumped.

I'll try not to waffle on too much. I've got a Fiesta on order, and when I bought it, it was at the factory gates. It got to Colchester (in Essex) on about the 10th October, which was 2 days earlier than expected.

Anyway, long story short, it's still in Colchester. I've been told that the PDI team at Colchester PROMISED it would be on a transporter on the way to my local dealership today. However, i've phoned up the PDI team at my local dealership and it's not.

They in fact told me that it's in a workshop at Colchester and isn't ready to be transported yet, and i'm currently awaiting an update as to the details of why it's in a workshop.

I understand that obviously some cars fail PDI and have to have work done, or need bits changing, whatever... But what i'm worried about is the possibility that someone along the line is lying to me?

Is Colchester telling the dealership that it's ready to go when it's not?

Is the salesman at my local dealership keeping me sweet by telling me it's on the way?

I'd much appreciate being told the truth rather than kept in the dark. And you never know, maybe it's just a terrible chain of mis-communications and i'm jumping to conclusions...

Oh well, anyone had experience with anything like this? or got any ideas of what I could do to find out exactly what's going on?

Its something that is extremely difficult to help with, any one of them could be lying, every one of them could be telling the truth.

I would go back to your dealer and request an explanation as to why its in the shop, and what work is required. Emphasise that as long as its not major work, you have no objection as long as you know what is happening.

Am I right in presuming you bought it from Lookers in Colchester? You may know that their car pound is at the Hythe, which is a very shorts distance from the dealership. Like you, I cannot understand what is going on but if they haven't kept to the delivery date (especially as the car appears to be in Colchester)I would go to the dealership and speak to the manager and ask him for a full explanation and a definite pick-up date. A threat to cancel the order sometimes works too!

The dealer would be keen to get the paperwork signed and car sold otherwise the sales ppl don't get there commission and the dealer doesn't get paid, depending on there end of quarter aswell so would be worth a cheeky call asking when there cut off is for the next quarter acting as a new customer looking for deals as they do tend to flog the stock cars to hit targets. At least then ur know and can use it to push the dealer to push the transport manager dealer with that area to get ur car into them ASAP.

Just got a call from the man at my local dealership,

He's informed me that the car is in fact on the way! So I definitely jumped to conclusions on this one. Looks like I expected the worst haha

It was a fair conclusion to reach! glad that its all back on track though!

If it is Lookers I have never had any problems with them. I have had 4 cars from them between the Chelmsford and South Woodham Ferrers branches. It also turns out my new neighbour is the Sales Manager at Colchester, so you can guess who I will be speaking to next time I change the car.

Haha!

Yeah to be honest the experience i've had so far has been really good. This incident just sort of put me into defensive mode and I start thinking "why does no one know where my !Removed! car actually is?!".. But that's just me jumping the gun (i've always been impatient haha).

The guy from Lookers always calls me regularly and always on the dot when he says he will, which is really good too.

He's also said that if the car isn't ready for me today, and it's ready for tomorrow, then he will stay at the dealership till whatever time so that I can pick up after work! Very kind.

that is decent sales service, or desperation for his commission :p
