Eco Boost Whining Noise

Featured Replies

I bought a used 2010 Mondeo Titanium X Sport. I did not notice this issue when I took it for a test drive but there is a loud whining noise when the car is idling. I took it back to the Ford dealer and they said it was completely normal on Eco Boost engines and refused to acknowledge the problem. I find it difficult to believe that since Ford are now using Eco Boost engines on ALL their cars, this issue has not been raised before, if indeed it is normal.

Can anyone advise on this? It is very loud and annoying and is driving me mad!!

if it has a warranty, write to them stating the date you first raised the concern and advise that you are writing requesting an explanation as to why this whine noise is normal in their opinion.

I would then forward that response to Ford UK to get their justification, but I have not heard of a loud whine in neutral being normal!

Does it only occur in neutral? in a particular rev range? or all the time?
