Wiper Blades

Featured Replies

Quick question please guys

I went on ebay to get my self a pair of front wiper blades. Here i noticed that some of the ads were listing them as replacements for cars WITH automatic wipers.

Surely the blades themselves make no difference to the rain sensing system or am i missing something.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-S-max-pair-of-front-wiper-blades-with-rain-sensors-/280593635002?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4154af16ba

Surely any wiper blades will be ok?

The auto wipe makes no difference with the blades unless they're slightly longer to reach over the sensor.

TBH if they were that long they would hit the A pillars though.

The RH wiper on Auto Wipers is slightly longer (50mm).

I cant see that they are any different.

I just ordered a set off eBay 30 and 26 inch.

Not specifically listed as the auto wipe ones, so we shall see I guess. Really can't see what difference others make

You should be good to go.

Just to set the record straight... The RH (driver's) wiper on cars with Auto Wipers is specified as 50mm longer than on cars without.

The much longer wiper is actually the LH (passenger's) wiper! Go measure for yourself if you don't believe me.

So you should be OK with 26" (erring on the longer side) & 30" though I'm not all too trusting of suppliers who proclaim the driver's wiper as the longer one!

With Auto Wipers. - LH - 750mm (29.5"), RH - 700mm (27.6")

Without Auto Wipers - LH - 750mm (29.5"), RH - 650mm (25.6")

...straight off the Owner's Handbook.
