Merv130
Has anyone successfully retrofitted the sony DAB head unit and got the DAB functionality to work? Or know what would be needed?
HarryNLD
I have tried to retrofit the Sony DAB unit, but it didn't work out. You need a Sony DAB unit (AA6T-18C815-Xx - The small x could be any letter) with the original screen and front panel. When you've got these parts you must install two different antennas. This is a link to my Dutch project page. You can see a picture with all the necessary parts for the antenna. (With google translate you should be fine!) This site shows were all the individual parts should be placed. When you've got all these parts installed, you must visit your dealer. The DAB function needs to be activated with the IDS computer. That's were my problem showed up. My AS-BUILT data does not support the DAB function. Result: It is impossible to activate the DAB function. The only way to get it to work is to find a Fiesta with a factory fitted DAB radio. Get the AS-BUILT data from that car into your car and it should work (Theoretically). But maybe you're lucky and your AS-BUILT data is compatible with the DAB function.
