What To Do? 1.6Tdci 2006

Featured Replies

hi i've just bought my first focus its a mk2 1.6tdci sport 2006

its completely standard at the minute ive bought a few things but yet to put anything on the car

  • window tints (limo black)
  • wind deflectors
  • sun strip
  • green carbon fibre vinyl for a few bits inside the car
  • pipercross panel filter
  • tuning box, do there really work should I expect to feel any more power?

I was wondering is there anything you would recommend me to do?

is there any way to get the turbo sounding abit louder I want to be able to hear it with out really having to listen?

thanks in advance

Hello and welcome! - the tuning box should make a significant/ noticable gain in power/torque, especially if it is an expensive digital one, designed/ set up for your car - a cheaper one may not work so well, and a "resistor" one may actually lose power - it may require an ECU reset (watch you dont loose you radio code) - i recommend you fit an EGR blanking plate (solid, stainless steel about £5) - there is a fitting guide on the forum - another thing worth doing is getting a DPF delete, phisically/ electronically - this will cost a bit more - some firms do a package deal with a remap - the remap should be a bit better than the tuning box (in general- there are pros and cons) the panel filter should make the induction a sound a bit louder and tuning/ changes (eg- tuning box etc)can often change the loudness/ character of the engine sound anyway - you may have to inform your insurance - even for the window tints/ gells - modifications are a personal/ subjective thing - ultimately its what YOU like/ want

Lennys guide to fitting the EGR blanking plate -

Normally the DPF removal would be done by a professional, it requires cutting the DPF open and welding it back up, for the phisical delete, and it has to be mapped out for the electronic delete
