Dpf Filter Becoming Blocked And A Problem With The Glow Plugs

My son-in-law purchased a 2009 Focus Titanium diesel from the car shop about 4 months ago. The car has now stopped and we are told it is due to a problem with the DPF filter and the glow plugs are 'gone'. My question is are these problems classified as mechanical failures. He did not have a warranty with the car.

    Unfortunately not, they are classed as consumables unfortunately as they are not mechanical / moving parts.

    The DPF can be removed and mapped out for a lot less than a replacement, and the glow plugs will be cheaper to replace them.

    There is one thing you can try, if the car is not really driveable or is not fit for purpose, you can return the car to them. They still have a right to support you as the car must be fit for purpose. Therefore you can review my signature for the "Dealers minimum obligation".

    Unless the vehicle was in essence sold as seen and you agreed to this, then you have the right to request that the faults are resolved as they are responsible for a minimum of 6 months.
