2008 1.8 Tdci Focus Zetec

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am updating my car after 15 years in the same vehicle!!

I have just looked at a 2008 Focus Zetec 1.8 Tdci, looked a nice car but just wanted to get any feed back good or bad if poss??

Jason.

15 years! very good term you have had out of it!

Well, if your looking for doing many miles, then you would want a diesel, but you would have a DPF to contend with. Given that its a 2008, it would either be a MK2.5, or perhaps the last of the MK2's. What colour was the instrument cluster? orange or green?

Hi, The cluster is orange, I dont do huge miles but am looking for value?

An orange cluster would make it a facelift MK2 (MK2.5).

A 1.8 diesel would give good mileage and be cheaper tax too.

A diesel is slightly more pricey than a petrol to buy new but prices for second hand ones tend to be pretty much equal.

Hi,

Is this engined car a good one that would be recommended?

The 1.8 is the best of the bunch as it's a true Ford engine not the Peugeot/Citroen lash up's used in the others.

It's a tried and true 8 valve engine and pulls like a train.

No DPF, no turbo problems and no warping heads to worry about.

As long as you change the fuel filter yearly and keep an eye on the intercooler hoses for splits you'll have no troubles.

The 1.8 is generally bullet proof in comparison, I think personally the 2.0 would be next and then the 1.6 (seems to be the one with more issues!)

Its a good car to go for and should give you mile after mile of satisfaction!
