Winter Tyre Load Index?

Just bought some winter tyres, just noticed that the load index is 82 not 84 as on the std tyres.

Here is an idea...

Concidering that the max gross of the fiesta is 1500Kg

so 1500Kg/4=375Kg

I'm guessing that the 82 rated tyre at 475Kg per tyre is OK?

In fact its a whole 100Kg over or 27% over.

Anyone concidered this?

i think by law you have to fit the same or higher than original fit load index.

www.btmauk.com/data/files/Replacing_Car_Tyres_1_June_2011.pdf

id go back to garage and ask them to change them.

check this out. www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/consumer-news/61410/watchdog-driver-foots-bill-after-tyres-mix.

also the thing is the weight isnt evenly spread under braking, conering and accelerating so the tyres could be overloaded under these conditions.

Interesting, but what about this...

The 2012 1.4 Zetec has the same kerb and gross vehicle weight as the 2012 Zetec s (within 5Kg), and sits on 195/50R15 tyres with a load rating of 82.

So fitting 1.4 zetec rims and tyres to zetec s surely cannot be wrong?

i see what you saying, but it goes by what is fitted orignally to your specific model. id atleast check with your insurance that its ok? or they can turn around and say your not covered, and i imagine in the event of an accident tyres would be one of the first things they would look at.

it doesn't matter what you or i personally think its what the law says just not worth the risk.
