Heated Rear Window

Featured Replies

Hi all rear window has stopped working on my focus m2 have changed fuse 52 still same is there any other fuses .When I press the button it lights up an di can hear relay click but it doesn't work nightmare at the minute.thanks

could be a broken wire at the rear window. You need to take the trim off and have a look at the wiring at the window and see if there is any obvious damage.

Is this an easy fix jeebo?

Just out of curiosity as i had my windows tinted and now the cold weather has set in, ive noticed that only half of my rear elements are working!

I think the installer mustve cut through the wire with his blade as he was cutting the rear window piece.

shouldnt be too bad. If you pop the boot, and look at the handle you can unscrew the torx screws in each handle. Then just firmly tug the handle and start to take pop the plastics out.

Remove the boot lid wall so that your looking at the bare metal, you should then be able to see the wiring around the rear windscreen and you should hopefully be able to trace (from the side that isnt heating) the wiring back to a fault, be that a knife happy tintman or a water ingress / broken cable.

If you did suffer the knifeman's attack, then your probably going to need either soldering bits, or a small butt connector (makes life a lot easier).

Thanks jeebo! Seems straightforward enough to fix then. Will have a crack at it when i get my car back off ford.

I wouldve mentioned it to ford but as the tints were aftermarket, they wouldve told me to jog on....

The tints have a "lifetime" warranty but something tells me that if i rang them about it, they would just give me the run-around about it saying it isnt down tothem etc etc...

Any tinter would have cut and trimmed the tint on the outside of the window not internally so technically if its not working its there fault

Well ive decided im gonna ring them today and see where it goes.

To be honest, it isnt the best job ive seen. There are parallel scratches on the tint (dont think its on the glass) so I think im gonna get them to re-do it.

Dont know if they can take the rear window tint off though without doing any more damage to the elements???

They can remove the tint with a hairdryer, no scraping required.

Thanks stoney. Will ring them later on.....
