my engine maintence light came on about 2 months ago, a garage plugged his computer in and said it needed dpf fluid....I got the fluid done last week, the regeneration hasn't happened? and my partner has said its gone limp on him a few times but this morning it cut out 3 times....does anyone have any idea on this?

thank u

thanks for that :-) how will I know if anyone replies with advice?xx

Mines a 2005 1.6 tdci, and mine doesnt have dpf fluid, well Ive looked for the tank and cant find one so I am taken it doesnt have one. when you look etis up it says renew fluid ect ect then if applicable? does anyone know the cut off for fluid to no fluid dpf systems.

On the regen thing, a ford garage can force it to regen, but as in driving it you have to have it over a certain speed for a certain time and running at normal temp, so best take it for a blast down motorway, not silly speeds 60-70mph is fine for 10-15 min each way, if the dpf is blocking it will feel very low on power, do you have any warning lights on

think the system has to reset when filled too.

yes the engine systems fault light has stayed on it since it first came on....we took it on a 50 mile round trip to it hasn't regenerated :-/ the man that does our car has said he doesn't want to force it to regen as it could cause other problems? I have no idea what to do? can u help suggest anything?x

Ive just read a few things and what they saying is if light hadnt come on it can be reset by key and filler flap, but once light comes on only dealer can reset, someone with more knowledge on this or first hand experience might come on and give you better idea.

Thats right George, there is an ignition / filler cap technique that can be used for topup but not once the DPF is at that point of no return.

Kerry. what mileage is the car at?
