Help Newbie. Ford Galaxy Boot Wont Open

Featured Replies

sorry guys, total newbie looking for some help

w reg 2000 ford galaxy.
key or central locking wont open boot.
pull the boot latch and no whining noise from the lock trying to open
have managed to open the boot and when looking at the mechanism and pulling the handle nothing happens

the boot will close but will not open EVER!!
fuel cap opens and closes with central locking and the key in the boot still operates the central locking for all the other doors. just the boot is unresponsive

what is the problem

Hi Gary,

welcome to the family.

Sounds to me like a problem with the boot catch assembly. If its not opening from key or switch, then you probably need to replace the assembly. To start with though you really need to check the wiring and make sure there is no obvious short outs or damage.

check for broken wires in the rubber gaitor, top right when you get the hatch open, common problem.
