2000 Only On Trip?

Hi all have been keeping an eye in my MPG for the last 5/6 fill ups using the trip as an ongoing counter

went out last night to Burton not much fuel left so had a look at trip and it was on 1993 miles so went to get fuel on way home had a look at trip 3.1 miles.So will the trip meter only go to 2000? strange number.

    Not too sure on that one, I always reset it when I had mine so never went over 550!
