Hello the engine light has just come on my Ford Fiesta Zetec and it has 2000 miles since its last service with no problems are there any basic checks I can do ( I am clueless) to see if this is a random fault or needs to be looked at by a garage?

    Disconnect the battery for a half hour then reconnect, if the issue is more than just a one off, then the error light will come back.

    have a look at my signature for "got an error on your car" and see about buying yourself a code reader!
