Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Module fault

As the title says getting that fault that pops up on my focus, doesn't cause any misfire or any problems. I can clear the fault and it wont happen again for ages until i give it a boot (which probably happens maybe one in 10 times).

Any ideas as to what and why its flagging up?

Alec

Most likely a faulty EGR valve - they can get gummed up

Have you fitted an EGR blanking plate?

EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation - started on petrol cars (should have stayed only on petrol cars)

Ah okay,

Any ideas what to do with it? Only flags up occasionally and doesnt stay on when cleared.

Is there a way to check and clean it? Where is it located?

EGR tends to be located at the back of the engine under the scuttle panel. The cheapest and easiest fix is to stick a blanking plate on there (fiver from ebay). If the problem comes back its a faulty EGR and will need taking out and checking over!
