Is this video ok to follow as a guide for replacing a fuel filter on a 1.8 tdci 2005? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJJuwrbAPTU

Is there any kind of way to check how recent my cam belt is?cant find anything in service history but i doubt its been on there for 113k miles.

Other day i think i stalled the car, although it diddnt feel like it was my fault but i guess i must have.Engine system fault light came on,is that normal if you stall it or did the car actually cut out?restarted fine and havnt had that happen before or since.

Hi Ben,

Not sure about the replacement on the video for definite, but the EML and brake lights come on when the engine is in electrics only, so includes post stall.

I know that a dirty or damaged fuel filter causes the car to stall so it echo's the idea.

Just to clarify,it wasnt a light for engine system fault,it actually said it where youd read your mpg etc

I think your model might be a cartridge filter go on euro car parts and enter your reg and it should show you which one did mine at the weekend bit of a mare to get it restarted .

Ensure your battery is fully charged if your going to attempt it yourself and once it fires up don't rev it leave it to tick over .prime the filter first and if possible get hold of a syringe just in case you don't get it fired up straight away .you will be able to fill the filter back up via the bleed nipple on the top saves taking everything apart again .

In that case, I would definately go with the fuel filter!

That American car completely different to European type fuel filter is under the bonnet on 1.8tdci a paper one above gearbox in a black plastic cylinder with to pipes be carefull one the clips might break on removing if u don't know what ur doin

An as for ur belt 125miles or 10 years now some them have a belt an a chain an others have belt and a wet belt if Urs has a wet belt this job will take 10hours absolute nightmare

You only have to remove the right hand fuel line on top of the filter then you should be able to unscrew the top easily no clips to break on that one just push in the two white areas and slide it off.to save pipe leaking just flip it over (bring it back towards you it will swivel).
