Another Dash Light Topic

As the title suggest the topic of dash lights.

My question is, should my mk2.5 focus display a light on the dash for dimmed beams? i have seen pics of other people cars with it on and mine only shows the sidelight symbol although far as i am aware thats totally fine and not a problem.

Question 2, is it possible to turn the light on for dipped beams?

Question 3, should there be a light for glow plugs on start up? never seen one on my car before but never had a cold start issue either

Hi Kurt, not sure about the 2.5 instrument cluster but I thought it was just the headlight symbol as the MK2.

Q2: not quite sure I follow what you mean?

Q3: Normally the light only comes on when they are needed, or they can come up for a split second. If you do the dash trick that should illuminate the LED's and will tell you if the bulb is there.

Thank you both for the kind replies. I have heard about the dash trick but not sure how. Can you tell me or link me please mate.

After these reply I gather the glow plugs lights are fine/normal then but my only query is the headlight dipped beam light

To enter the diagnostics mode (dashboard trick):

1. Simulatenously press and hold the tripmeter reset button, and turn the ignition switch to position II.

2. When test is displayed in the LCD, release & press the reset button again.

3. To cycle through the different modes (including checking all lights), keep pressing the reset button.

4. Turn the ignition to OFF to exit diagnostics mode.
