Full Size Spare Wheel. ( Alloy)

Featured Replies

Just purchased a full size alloy to use as a spare wheel. But as I'm aware ill need a kit to raise the boot floor. I wonder if anyone has pics of it or anyone know the part numbers plus prices

I don't think a spare alloy was a factory available option, you got a full size steel wheel at best.

Other factory options were :-

  • The Citroen 2CV sized mini spare
  • The tyre inflator and sealing gunge kit (no jack or "wheel brace" ... ?).

I don't have any pics to hand, but there are at least three major parts for the full size steel spare wheel :-

  1. 1344800 R/H Boot Insert
  2. 1354075 L/H Boot Insert
  3. 1365509 Boot Floor Carpet Mat

Both items "1" and "2" are "L" shaped and give you a number of small storage compartments as well as acting as supports for the edges of item "3".

The above parts raise the carpet level to just below the boot lip so you will lose a bit of boot height space; somewhere about 12cm.

If you've got 17" or 18" wheels then your alloy+tyre may not fit as the wheel well is sized for a 16" rim with a 205/55R16 tyre.

Before buying the above bits I'd do a test fit with one of your existing wheel+tyre as I seem to recall the parts are not not cheap; somewhere in the region of £200 :o from a stealer dealer.

If you haven't already got them, then you'll also need the jack, wheel brace and the other two lumps of plastic that stop the jack and wheel brace rattling around the wheel well.

If you don't like the standard Ford jack and prefer to carry a trolley jack around then to save damaging the sill flanges :-

  1. Get an Ice Hockey Puck
  2. Cut a slot across it (but not all the way through) which is just big enough to take the sill flange
  3. Slip it over the sill flange for when you're using a trolley jack

The term "wheel brace" is not an entirely accurate description as if you've been to Kwik-Save (you know who I mean) or similar then the only purpose the "wheel brace" serves is to assist in the rapid removal skin/flesh from your knuckles/arms/legs (also removes paint from the wheel and car too) before the socket end disentegrates :censored:.

To avoid the above surgery I carry a 60cm breaker bar with a plastic sleeved long reach single hexagon impact socket; saves your body, the wheels and the car's body work (may reduce swearing too) :).

No I've got a full size 17 inch alloy wheel. I've got all the parts jack and breaker bar as they have been in the car since I bought it. But ye just wanted to see if anyone knew the part number I needed :).
