Hi everyone.

Have just seen these universal heated seat kits and just wondered if anyone had fitted them or seen someone who has. Was thinking of getting them for my mk7 ZS. Average price i have seen on ebay is about £50 for a two seat kit.

Looks good in principle and I can't see it would be too difficult to install providing you can get the seat covers off reasonably easily. The only thing is though do you trust them in terms of being safe etc?

I have watched a few u tube videos of installation, and yes they are relatively easy to fit just time consuming (remove seats from car, remove lining,install heat elements,reinstall lining,reinstall seat) The only thing to watch is that your 12v feed isn't a permanent live, but a live feed only when the key is turned, so that the heaters can't be left on when the car is locked up. That is as safe i think that u can make it because the only thing out of your control is component quality?

If you're lucky you already have the OEM heated seat wiring under your seat. Just look at the wiring block under your seat, if the wires in the middle (next to the bracket) are in place, you should have a switched 12v there.

I retrofitted the OEM heated seat option. It is much more expensive but I like to have everything OEM.

Hi HarryNLD. Does what you say still apply if you only have fabric seats, which mine are. Im guessing maybe yours are leather?

Fabric ore leather doesn't matter. The wiring is exactly the same. I've got fabric seats as well.

I was lucky that all the wiring, even the fuse, were already in my Fiesta. Not everyone is that lucky.

The problem with OEM heated seats is that only the bottom is heated, the back hasn't got heating.

I wonder if my Focus Sport has them already. Its got the titanium seats so in theory it could have the heater elements in and just needs the switches and presumably the connections to the seats put in.
