2009 1.6 Tdci 110 Titanium Bogging Down When Setting Off

Featured Replies

I've just bought a Focus for the wife (I'm on my fourth Focus estate) though it has a tendency to drop the revs when setting off in first and it is generally unhappy at low revs in second too if trying a slow rolling start. My 58 1.6 TDCi (90) doesn't do this, nor did my 06 1.6 TDCi (90 too).

When taking off the revs drop to 6 or 700 and whilst it only takes a couple of seconds to recover it's disconcerting. Is this common? Car drives fine otherwise, although it doesn't feel like much of an improvement over my 90.

Car has 80k and FFSH, non elloys DPF (I think, euro 5).

TIA, Dave

Could be as simple as a clogging fuel filter, given the cold, its quite probable, however, it could be something more simple than that. The MAF sensor might need a quick clean with Electrical Contact Cleaner, just to get any cack off that might be giving it a few misreadings.
