Creaking Front Suspension Noise

Featured Replies

I have a 58 plate Mk 7 Fiesta Zetec 1.25 which I bought second hand in August 2013.

Really pleased with it, but one little niggle.

Every time I go over speed bumps, (slowly), I get a creaking sound from the front end of the car - appears to be on the nearside but hard to locate exactly. It's only when the front wheels go over the bump.

I sometimes get this noise when traveling along and the nearside goes over a bit of uneven road surface.

Had it checked out at the garage where I bought it from - they checked suspension, bearings, anti roll bars etc.... but couldn't tell me what it was.

Any ideas ??

John

Try lightly pushing on the back bumper under the tail lights. If this is the similar creek you've been hearing. Normal.

Plastic's i believe rubbing on each other.)

The steering can also creek when turning it left or right. There was a thread about this needing a little grease but Ford told me it wasn't much of a deal.

This is almost identical to my situation, as I've just bought a 2 year old 1.25 Zetec.

There's a creaking noise which seems to be coming from the front n/s suspension when going over even the smallest of speed bumps. The bigger the bump, the bigger the noise.

I'm no mechanic but from searching the internet, the most common cause seems to be the suspension bushes. If they're not damaged, they may just need greasing. However, I'm going to get it checked out at a Ford Dealer to see what they say and will update this post when I know more.

My work fiesta does this and its only a year old... our car park has 6 double speed bumps to get in and out so quite irritating... my zetec s does it if i go over them fast

hi, i dont know if this will help but i am working on a similar problem on my daughters 1.4 2004 fiesta, after checking everything relating to the susspension i discovered it is the drivers side driveshaft halfway bearing, i am at the moment trying to get a replacement, i only found it as i had the front up on axle stands with both front wheels of, i was doing an oil change so started the car to warm up the engine, and hey presto the front wheel was turning and the noise was the screaching i thought was the susspension. on going under the cat it was obvious right aeay that the bearing had gone,..

cheers john..

I have this creaking problem when gping over speed bumps but I got told my suspension is fine. The main problem though is that when braking it creaks on the front left side. Now I've had bearings changed and had the tyres checked the brake discs and pads checked  and all those are apparently fine. In the end the garage convinced me that they'd had a car in with making the same noise and that enddd yp being the drive shaft so I agreed to let them do that for me. They said the drive shaft was worn but I've no idea if it eas normal wear and tear for an 8 year old car. Anyway I've got it back and the damn thing is still making the same noise when braking.

I'm really at a loss. This is the second garage actually who hadn't been able to fix it.

Could it be the stabiliser bar bushes?
