New Engine Or Repair On Blown 1.4 Tdci

Featured Replies

Hi All

I have just bought a 1.4TDCi fiesta Van.

i bought it blind from a salvage auction, and all the details i had was that it had a hole in the sump.

So i new worst case sinario would be a new engine.

I took the sump off today and found what i am guessing is part of the big end.

I'm not machichanlly minded so i'm attaching some images and just want to see if i can get vague ideas as if the damage can be reapird / replaced or if it will be easier / cheaper to get a 2nd hand engine.

Also i have started looking for 2nd hand engines and there are plenty available but they are different 'Marks' ie: Mark 6, Mark 5 etc.

How do i find out what mark i need for my van its an 06 plate but registered as a 2007, 1.4TDCI

Many thanks in advance

anyone any ideas ?

Conrod has snapped, god knows what else has been damaged or what has caused it. Second hand engine is looking like best option.

second hand engine for sure! After a conrod breaking can also damage other parts of the engine

Thanks for replies all.

so would you know what engine i should look for, as in what Mark? ie Mark 5 mark 6 . does it make any difference?

many thanks

Your fiesta is a mk 6, so a 1.4 tdci from a mk 6 is your best bet. Try and get an ECO and gauges with it also so that the clocks all work correctly. I may be wrong but they're typically all linked together.

Thansk for replies all.

So if i get a replacement engine same year and model, would it not be a straight swap, ie will the original ECO not work with the new / replacement engine, because most of the replacement engines i am looking at dont come with the ECO.

many thanks
