Boot Problem

Featured Replies

Hi

My 1.6 Zetec has a boot which is really heavy and the struts do not hold it so I cannot let it go - it is soo heavy it is lethal. Can you advise me what to do please as I cannot use my boot because of this - it is too dangerous

Should be under 100 pounds if you fit them yourself,

Prop the boot open fully with a step ladder or something to hold I fully open,

Get a torx head and a socket wrench,

Swap out the struts with the new ones swapping like for like.

You can buy replacement struts on eBay ( non genuine ford ) for under 60 pounds,

But expect to pay more if going to ford service parts department to purchase.

I certainly wouldn't pay ford two hours labour to fix a job that is straight forward and takes around 40 minutes.
