word of warning, it you need to take it out while the camera is in situ, be very very careful.

One day I thought I'd remove the card in situ. Well it flew out like a rocket, hit me in the shoulder area, and disappeared. What a job I had finding that.

You know from experience, you drop something in the house and it ends up under the fridge or the settee or the sideboard a foot or two away, requiring the use of a 12 inch ruler to retrieve it

Well first job I looked down over the top of the drivers seat in that area between the seat and the cockpit centre consul, zilch.

I had the drivers floor mat out, I checked every inch of the drivers floor carpeting, under the front of the drivers seat. I checked the rails the drivers seat traverses back and forward on. I checked every bit of the centre consul, the gear stick gaiter. I went in the back and checked behind and under the drivers seat, not a sight of it.

I slide the seat right back and viewing from the front and twisting my neck [in the process nearly pulllng a muscle] I finally saw it. There it was snaged on to the verical side of the floor carpet as it heads towards the centre consul, like it was a mountaineer clinging on to the North Face of the Eiger. Did it want to let go, did it b@ggery, and me fearful of dislodging it without holding onto it, and it falling down behind the seat rail. Seat out and all that, or attempted retrieval by vacuum cleaner suction.

But I hung on to it thankgoodness.

Hahaha, yes it is a !Removed! micro sd card... A right pain in the wotsit..

I'm having all sorts of troubles with the !Removed! thing at the moment - I'm assuming this is more the damn card than the camera!

James, in order to get files off the camera can you just plug the camera in to the computer? Or do you have to take the memory card out?

Either or, I find its just as easy to tug the camera out plug in download and reconnect. Easier overall imo.

Hmm mine doesn't work, they've told me their supplier said it's 'impossible' to do so... Those rats!

I believe when I plug it in WITH the memory card in, it doesn't register on the computer that it's been plugged into the laptop...

Have young tried different USB ports and also checked device manager, it could be it hadn't installed a driver yet?

Ian not being silly here, but are you sure your putting the card in the right way round.

problem could be that you think it is in, but it is not hence the PC ain't seeing it.

What you have right now is a situation in that you don't know if its a USB slot issue, a camera issue or a micro card issue.

if it were me I'd take the card out pop it in a SD card adaptor, pop it in an SD card slot on your PC, or in my case I pop it in a SD card adaptor , which I then slot into a SD card to USB adaopto. Then see if your PC recognises it. If it does that will illiminate the card and the PC being at fault.

Digging up this post I have just bought the very same camera James has for £19.89 (link).

Anyway my question is what have done to hard wire into a 12Volt supply?, I bought a USB charger last year and hard wired using this to switched 12Volt supply in the passenger cabin fuse board/GEM module, and I have one of the add-a-circuit link spare to I will disassemble the cig power adaptor and wire it via a switched 12Volt supply in the fuse board/GEM module again.

For my mondeo I just bough a motorbike 12v supply. Cut the rings off, stripped the ends, poked in to the connector block for the rear 12v positive and negative, then secured the wires in place with amalgamating tape. Works an absolute treat. Alternatively you can use a fuse tap (piggy back fuse) and add an extra a circuit direct). Good luck with the cam Kevin

Hi Jeebowhite and everyone else, I'm new to the forum.

I have just bought one of these cameras (GS800L) and believe it or not the instructions I received are in Chinese (I presume as it looks like Chinese to me) I have worked out a lot of what to do but still not fully working. I have tried it with a 32Gb card in and it says "Mass Data" so I have put in an 8Gb card and this seems to be accepted.

I would settle for a camera that turns on when I start the car and re-records over itself all the time every minute. If I could then stop the camera when needed ie. after an accident, that is all I require. I only need the last minute before a prang not the whole journey I have made.

I do not know which settings to achieve this with, if anyone here can help I will be very grateful. My other idea was to take it to my local Chinese take-away but they may not be of much help.

Mass storage appears when your plugged into the computer, my cam has a 32gb in with no issues.

The camera turns on automatically with power there is an auto record function on the menu. Mine automatically records and switches on with the car because the 12v is ignition live and not permanent. It does also have the loop record. When you power it on it starts in video mode so press menu once to configure the settings, use up and down buttons to navigate the menus and click record as the OK button. You can set the game sensor sensitivity, and in the event of any hit at that he force will automatically save the last video and the next 60 seconds.

I would advise loop recording as 3 minutes, motion detection off, it should them auto record for as long as it's plugged in and it should automatically overwrite the disk when it's our of space.

Not bad at all! I was happy to pay 20 for it, heck it's recently caught another idiot on camera for the police to investigate on top of two crashes and the theft of my car... It really is worth it!

Glad you have it set up and ready to go! Are you hardwiring it in!

Hard wired it in and it's brilliant. The rubber sucker sits on the black part of the windscreen and the actual camera hangs down slightly below and is very difficult to see from outside. I live in the backwoods where nothing happens really but when I venture into civilisation I am now prepared. Thanks for everything.

(PS. I Googled the make of the camera originally for help as my instructions were in Chinese and the only place I could find any help was off Jeebowhite on the Ford Forum. I used to have a Ford Popular 50 years ago so I joined the forum to converse. Sorry if this upsets anyone. If I get a brick through the windscreen of my Saab 9-3 I know where to start looking for suspects)

I did it differently as I hardwired a spare 12v socket under the dash, then used the lead provided to plug it into the 12v

It's easy and cheap and offers better fuse ratings so won't blow up lol.

Jeebowhite, well have had issues and it turned out to be a dodgy tf card, anyway got a SanDisk tf card and now records all video without switching off after 10 minutes, so all good now.
