Rear Parking Sensors

Featured Replies

 Hi, Has anyone out there had any problems with their parking sensors?. I have!

We had slight suspicions shortly after taking ownership of the car, but thought it was just us missing the alerts.[Wrong]! We now have the hassle of having them checked, and a repair needed to our new car.Having owned two fords with sensors previously, We are not amused.!

I know a few who have issues with them yes ones was giving false readings as hr found out when he hit a bollard and it said he had lots of room all have had them replaced one still has a fault though waste of space to be honest never needed them never hit anything once you have them people rely on them take it to The dealer they will likely replace the sensors and unit for you

I've never had any issues with these but they are a cheaply made device with little quality or technology involved. Which is why you can buy a set for £10 off eBay. Therefore I am not surprised that you will get some of these failing.

I have a aftermarket system fitted and it's never missed a beat.

Wouldn't be without them.

Around my area people park at really stupid angles which makes distance judgement a swine.

I read that if you have a tow bar fitted, the sensors stop working? Is that true,if so and i remove it,where do i see the function that would show me how close i am or is it a beeping thing~?

You can get many different types some just beep and some also have a lcd screen. You could remove your tow bar or you could use the angle sections included that might help to direct the sensor. There are also some you can buy for if you have a tow bar fitted.

They are a great addition and i have not come across any that have failed.

I have heard problems with the Ford OEM fitted unit's , either the sensors fail or the unit fails.

Ah,when i go into reverse theres a long beep fora bout 5 seconds,is that telling me they wont work because of the towbar?ill have a look at taking it off because theyre of more use than the poxy tow bar lol

It could be yes , easy way to test would be to unplug the two near the tow bar

The system can be reset ford did it to the faulty ones as said some fixed some needed a new control box etc a dealer should fix it free if it was bought from them

When engaged into reverse I hear the long beep tone for about 6 seconds or so. One sensor is not ticking so I have just replaced it. However it still doesn't tick and is no different than before . Do I need to reset the whole system somehow? What am I missing or done wrong ?

Thanks

Hi, I have a 2.0l diesel hatch back and previous 1.6l diesel hatch back, both with towbars and cycle carrier plate fitted and neither affected parking sensors

Steve has only been waiting 8 years for answer, not that he would know since he is yet another OPW. 😧

Always wise to check how old a thread is and when or even if the poster has ever been back
