Hi,new Member With Focus Rough Running/stalling

Featured Replies

hi everyone. this is my first post

i own a focus 1.6 zeetec w reg, 115k miles

recently whilst at idle the revs would jump up and down and then sometimes disappear for days without an issue

a month or so later i put petrol from bp into it. the following day the car ran fine until warmed up when all or a sudden the car is stalling mid drive and at idle, jolting occasionally whilst driving also

i wasn't sure if this down to the petrol i had put in it. could it be contaminated with water?

any help would be much appreciated

many thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

the erratic idle is probably the Idle Control Valve in need ot a clean.

The stalling probably could be due to a blocked fuel filter, this time of year its common for the cold and supermarket fuel to bounce off each other and cause a blockage, then it can clear and come back.
