Cigarette Socket Problem, Tried Fuse! :s Need Help!

Featured Replies

Hi all!

i have recently bought a 57 plate fiesta zetec climate and i am having a problem with my cigarette lighter socket.

the problem being, it doesn't work!

i looked at the fuse box and found that there was no fuse in the socket so i just thought it would be a simple buy a new fuse, wallah!

apparently not, i went to put the fuse in to find it was really loose, to the point a slight bump would make it fall out, even when in the socket still puts no power out.

i decided to apply a little solder on to the fuse spades/legs to thicken them as this would maybe hold it in place, as thought, this held the fuse in position well but still no power?

has anyone got any ideas or can you point me in the right direction?

i don't want to take it back to where i bought it because i have to take a day off work which loses me a days pay, i was hoping it would be a simple fix.

any help would be greatly appreciated, this is my first car and i have only recently got it, it really is in immaculate condition and this is the only problem i have found.

TLDR; 12v socket not working, tried changing fuse with no joy and fuse sits very loosely in place, any ideas?

are you sure that its the front lighter fuse your looking at and not the back one which is not required if a rear socket is not fitted,my info for the front fuse is number f29 15amp.
